De Nieuwe Meent

De Nieuwe Meent is a housing cooperative in Amsterdam East structured around the core values of commoning, care, diversity, and sustainability. The development of De Nieuwe Meent began in 2018 as part of the housing cooperative pilot in Amsterdam with the aim to shape 'a post-capitalist urban community in Amsterdam East'. After years of hard work, the building was completed in September 2025. The cooperative has created affordable rental homes for its fifty members and a gathering place for the neighborhood and communities. De Nieuwe Meent also houses the office spaces of Woonruimte cooperatief and coffee shop/community hub Noon coffee&culture. The building features two common spaces used for programming activities and for non-profit rentals. We love to open our spaces to bring people together, for education and exchange, and to foster community and activism.
