(IT) - Centro Sociale Django
Centro Sociale Django was founded in 2014, when the collective group Ztl Wake Up squatted Piave’s former military barracks (Ex Caserma Piave).
In 2017, the social center reached a formal agreement with the municipality officially recognizing its occupation and activities, which has recently been extended until 2028. From its foundation, the social center has provided a free space for community building and cultural activities, such as workshops, music performances, screenings, coding courses and collaborations with book and comics festivals. During the initial phase of occupation, it also offered temporary housing for homeless people. As the collective explains, the name Django refers to Tarantino’s movie Django Unchained. Like the protagonist, they are determined to uphold anti-racist and anti-fascist values while striving to bring positive change to their own life and those of others.
