Forte Prenestino is a self-managed, occupied social center in Rome, active since 1986. Once an abandoned military fort, it was reclaimed without official authorization and transformed into a space for culture, politics, and collective living. Run through horizontal assemblies, it promotes alternative models of sociality and economy, funds itself through accessible contributions, and stands firmly antifascist, antiracist, antisexist, and anti-prohibitionist. It is the most famous and active social center in the Italian capital.
