Officina 99 is a self-organized and autonomous social and cultural center located in the former engine rectification workshop of the city of Naples, which was squatted and occupied by a group of students and young activists on May,1st 1991. Officina 99 serves as a space for film screenings, concerts, public talks and meetings, bringing together a young community living in a neighborhood in serious social decay. In the 1990s, Officina 99 founded an after-school club and a women's clinic. Until today, Officina 99 has engaged in constant struggles for the livability and transformation of the territory, a guaranteed wage, the reduction of the working days, access to social services, against the commodification of free time and the alienation that comes with it as well as against every fascist, sexist and racist logic.
