(IT) - LUMe Occupato
LUMe is a collective project based in the building of the Metropolitan University Laboratory of Milan, which was occupied in 2015. Organized by students, workers, musicians, and artists, LUMe believes in the political and cultural value of artistic cooperation and is building a project that celebrates its social origins. LUMe is founded on voluntary participation and supports collaborative practices aimed at fostering critical thinking and interpersonal growth. The collective is evolving, supportive, and inclusive; the histories and experiences of the diverse participating communities are respected, all of whom recognize themselves in the values of anti-fascism, anti-racism, and anti-sexism. The projects supported by LUMe are entirely self-funded, built on the commitment and will of those who participate, and are not driven by profit. As a university space, LUMe aims to be a site of debate, criticism, and development of alternative practices and projects regarding access to the cultural industry and life of university students in Milan.
