(FR) - Carbone 17

Carbone 17 is a self-managed artist residency and creative incubator based in Aubervilliers. The project aims to convert unused or abandoned spaces into hubs for creation, exchange, and solidarity, welcoming both local and international artists.

The residency offers shared studios and production spaces across a variety of disciplines - visual arts, music, craftsmanship, multimedia - in a spirit of collaboration and mutual support. Carbone 17’s mission is rooted in hospitality and inclusivity: culture belongs to everyone, and creative memory and freedom are tools for resilience and community building. 

Beyond its day-to-day residency program, Carbone 17 regularly hosts public events  (exhibitions, open studios, performances, screenings, workshops, and community gatherings) offering opportunities for direct encounters between artists and the surrounding neighborhood. These events are central to the project’s mission of connecting artistic experimentation with everyday urban life.
