(FR) - Villa Mais d’Ici
Villa Mais d’Ici is a cultural “friche” (creative squat-style space turned collective hub) located in a former coal-factory in Aubervilliers. Since 2003, it has hosted around forty different artistic structures, offering them studios, rehearsal rooms, workshops, and shared communal spaces in a spirit of mutualization and collective management.
The site includes equipped workshops for all kinds of practices - from theatre and performance to visual arts, sculpture, woodwork, screen printing, sound, video, set-making and more - as well as shared common areas such as a courtyard, bar, hall, garden and a large outdoor space. Artists and collectives use these resources to experiment, create and produce work in a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment.
More than just a place to work, Villa Mais d’Ici seeks to foster community and solidarity. With shared kitchens, social spaces and a governance rooted in cooperation rather than commercial logic, it embodies an alternative model for cultural production and collective living.
