(FR) - La Clef Revival

34 Rue Daubenton, 75005 Paris, France

La Clef Revival is a self-managed, collectively run initiative that saved the historic La Clef cinema in Paris’s Latin Quarter and transformed it into a shared cultural space dedicated to independent cinema and artistic experimentation.

The building was occupied in 2019 to prevent its sale and closure, and the cinema was ultimately purchased in June 2024 thanks to a broad public mobilization, crowdfunding, donations, and ethical financing. Today, the space embodies the idea of cinema as a collective asset, independent, accessible, and free from commercial pressures.

La Clef Revival collectively curated programming highlights rare or under-distributed films, discussions, cine-concerts, and a wide range of cultural and community events. Ticketing is designed to remain accessible, often based on free or solidarity pricing.

The project also ensures the long-term protection of the building from real estate speculation by entrusting its ownership to the Cinéma Revival Foundation, which prevents any future resale and guarantees that the venue will remain dedicated to creation, film culture, and civic participation.

In short, La Clef Revival turned a cinema at risk of disappearing into an autonomous, collective, and lasting cultural space championing creative freedom, shared ownership, and access to culture for all.
