Originating with the city’s counterculture and free spaces, Amsterdam Alternative stands for collective action and radical political debate for the sake of a desirable future for the many, not the few.

Amsterdam Alternative was initiated in 2015 by a couple of people from the OT301, OCCII, Cinetol, ADM, De Ruimte, Plantage Dok, Ruigoord and the Vondelbunker. What started as a network of solidarity has grown out to be a diverse and highly motivated network of people, places and organisations. At this moment (end of 2025) there is about 35 non-profit, (sub)cultural venues connected to AA and the insane number of about 1500 volunteers and members.
