Space for Dance Art

Since September 2021, ICK Dans Amsterdam has moved into the iconic Westbeat building in Amsterdam Nieuw-west. In collaboration with artists from different disciplines, the dance company has established Space for Dance Art there, where performances, workshops and symposiums are organised from artistic drift.

Space for Dance Art is a spot in the city where dance and movement have taken root as an art form. It is a multifunctional place full of potential: a cultural hotspot and meeting place for dialogue. It offers open classes, from ballet to its own movement method Double Skin / Double Mind. Space for Dance Art has its own media library. Here, both the archive and the future of dance live under the same roof.

Space for Dance Art is a place where far-reaching and international dreaming and dancing can take place at the cutting edge, but where local residents can also drop in to 'break the morning', stretch, jump and always: breathe.

With regularity, the doors of Space for Dance Art open to a diverse and wide audience. Space for Dance Art offers varied programming for every age, from open house with public rehearsals, presentations of work-in-progress to exciting Club Nights with unexpected beats and exciting popups.

Sinds september 2021 huist ICK Dans Amsterdam in het iconische gebouw Westbeat in Amsterdam Nieuw-west. In samenwerking met kunstenaars uit allerlei disciplines vestigt het dansgezelschap er Space for Dance Art, waar vanuit artistieke drift voorstellingen, workshops en symposia worden georganiseerd. 

Space for Dance Art is een ruimte in de stad waar dans en beweging als kunstvorm zich heeft genesteld. Het is een multifunctioneel plek vol potentie: een culturele hotspot en ontmoetingsplek voor dialoog. Er worden open classes gegeven, van ballet tot de eigen methode Double Skin / Double Mind. Space for Dance Art heeft een eigen mediatheek. Hier wonen archief én toekomst van de dans onder hetzelfde dak. 

Space for Dance Art is een plek waarin vergaand en internationaal gedroomd wordt en dans op het scherp van de snede kan ontwikkelen, maar waar ook de buren kunnen binnenlopen om ‘de ochtend te breken’, even rekken, springen en altijd: ademhalen. 

Met regelmaat openen de deuren van Space for Dance Art zich voor een divers en breed publiek. Space for Dance Art biedt een gevarieerde programmering voor elke leeftijd, van open huis met openbare repetities, presentaties van work-in-progress tot spannende Club Nights met onverwachte beats en spannende popups.
