Plantagedok
Het Dok is een voormalig ambachtschoolgebouw in de Artisbuurt. In de jaren negentig werd het gebouw betrokken door krakende kunstenaars afkomstig uit de roemruchte Graansilo. ‘Mogelijkhedenplaats’ Plantage Doklaan is inmiddels in bezit van de vereniging van gebruikers van het pand. Het gebouw huisvest dertig woon/werkruimtes en ateliers met o.a. decorbouw, meubelmakerij, theaterkostuums, robots, audiovisuele kunst, tatoeages, striptekenen, theater, milieucampagnes, veganistische delicatessen, massagestudio enz. De kerkzaal, die ooit als gymzaal diende, is te huur voor sociaal/culturele evenementen en als repetitieruimte. Elke donderdagavond is de Dokhuisgalerie geopend met beeldende kunst en live programma, omlijst met hapjes en drankjes.
Plantagedok is a monumental building -near the Artis Zoo- that was squatted in 1998, legalized in 2001, and is now owned by a collective of international artists and activists. Every Thursday the Dokhuis Galerie is open to the public, presenting art expositions, live entertainment in the basement and delicious vegan food and drinks.
