Subbacultcha & We Are Public have announced the full lineup of Loom Fest
Subbacultcha & We Are Public have announced the full lineup of Loom Fest, a new interdisciplinary one-day festival. On 15 February 2025, Loom Fest takes over the stages of de Sloot and de Sering in Amsterdam with an enthralling programme bringing together forward thinking music and contemporary dance performances.
The lineup features world-revered experimental composer Klein, the ever-exploratory electronic musician bela, subversive performer Courtney May Robertson, boundary pushing composer Ji Youn Kang, emotive electroacoustic musician Aimée Theriot, praised contemporary choreographer Arno Schuitemakers and multi-talented performer YAV.
A closer look to some of Loom Fest artists:
Klein
Klein is an artist and musician whose work often blurs the lines between fact and fiction. Her music releases, films, and performances are often informed by urban mapping, surveillance, humour, hip-hop, noise, identity, and beyond. Her work has been shown and/or performed at Museums, Galleries, yards, squats, and pubs, including the infamous The Old Blue Last and the New Cross Inn.
Courtney May Robertson
Rising star in the field of contemporary dance, Courtney May Robertson skyrocketed to the top of the charts with her subversive performance HUNTER. At Loom Fest, she presents a special version of the show, OFF RECORD!!! Inspired by horror, BDSM and melodrama, a tapestry of images are woven in which the grotesque, sexual perversion and excessiveness become triumphant symbols for bodily autonomy and empowerment. OFF RECORD!!! is even rawer than HUNTER. You are not ready for this.
bela
Known for propulsive mind-bending club music that sounds refreshingly alien, bela (Subtext) is a musician and a performance artist creating music steeped in tradition but breaking conventional patterns. On stage, bela growls through a diary of poems and slogans over a composition of electronic pungmul music, reclaiming the depths of queerness and miscommunication through the process of a ceremony.
YAV
The multitalented performer, creator, singer and songwriter, producer, movement artist and model YAV presents a unique performance at Loom Fest. He surfs between punk, soul, R&B and spiritual frequencies to create a mesmerizing universe. He has worked as a choreographer and dancer on Beyoncé’s film Black is King and worked as a movement director. As an artist, YAV has been featured in influential magazines such as VOGUE, NL, I-D, GLAMCULT and NUMERO NETHERLANDS.
