Meteorite Museum Amsterdam
When free space in Amsterdam becomes less and less available, physically and mentally, it is up to creative thinkers to come up with ways to keep engaging and open people’s mind to look at things in alternative ways. A good example is the recently opened Meteorite Museum Amsterdam. With the slogan ‘Challenge Your Imagination’, the maker invites everyone to visit the Museum, which is in public space and opened 24 hours. The location is on the Frederiksplein in Amsterdam.
It all started with a dream to bring together all these stone giants that in one point in our history scorched the surface. Not only human history but the history of earth herself. For us, the team that has made all of this possible, we feel that here, at the beginning of this walk, you are about to enter sacred ground. Publicly accessible for everyone. The meteorites fill us at the same time with awe and envy. Awe because their shear size and impact on the planet, and envy because they have been where no human has gone before, places beyond our imagination. Feel free to take a moment and wonder around, not only on this street in Amsterdam, but also through history, and not only through earth's history but to the history of the galaxy!
The first 90 meteorites, collected and mapped, are already on display for everyone to enjoy. Check the map on this website for the route and read more here about the initiative and our plans to keep expanding by adding satelite locations throughout Amsterdam in 2025.We keep you posted on this website and on our Instagram account.
Be welcome to the first meteorite museum in the world. Meteorite Museum Amsterdam.
