Kostgewonnen 30 years Ruimte voor Kunst, Niet voor Winst!

This October 1st, 2023, Kostgewonnen will be celebrating 30 years since the old school on the Derde Kostverlorenkade was squatted and turned into a cultural association. Vereniging Kostgangers was initiated by a group of architects, artists, and builders, and provides now a home to several families, artists’ studios and cultural practices. On October 1st, we open our doors to share our work, our building and its history. At Kostgewonnen we believe that learning from each other and sharing our diverse histories can help ensure that other ways of living Amsterdam remain possible. Join us in celebrating the thirty years of Kostgewonnen and the resilience of ‘people against profit’ in this city:

11:00 Open Doors - Visit the Open Studios and Meet the Artists
12:00 Gym Archive - Take a look at our archive of pictures from Kostgewonnen’s history
17:00 Panel Meeting - Join us and our speakers in discussing the past and future of autonomous artists spaces in Amsterdam, and how we can learn from each other to claim back city space
17.30h Drinks and Snacks
19:00 End of Panel - The night ends with a little bit of music

Each of the open studios will be welcoming guests with special introductions to their practice, so make sure to get a map and take your time! Doors will be open 11:00 to 18:00 hrs, come along.

Can’t make it? Kostgewonnen will continue hosting regular public activities. You might like our monthly Chessclub, for example, which takes place on the last Wednesday of each month at 19h.
