Art in the Capitalocene: Studio/K × Radio Ar/Kadia
Open: 18:00 - 01:00
Tickets: € Free
With this event we hope to celebrate creation and cultural third spaces as well as raise awareness on the difficulties they face, in a context where our generation is overburdened by fear for the future.
Our panel will discuss the value and position of art and of independent artistic venues in a time of compounding crises and late-stage capitalism. In a time defined by multiple crises, climate catastrophe and ongoing genocides, independent art and their spaces provide refuge for insurgent expression. These spaces have long worked against systems of enclosure and corporate domination to produce counter-narratives that tell the stories of those that have been peripheralized.
We look to explore these ideas of creative expression and spatial reclamation through a series of panel discussions with both artists and those who maintain artistic venues in Amsterdam. In these discussions we hope to collectively express the importance of insurgent creation and explore pathways for continued maintenance and stewardship of independent art spaces.
