Humans of Film Festival (HoFF) is back from 20 to 29 November 2026 for an expanded sixth edition: nine days of arthouse film screened across LAB111, Filmhuis Cavia, Ventilator Cinema, Filmtheater de Uitkijk and other venues around the city. This year’s programme is built around EMPATHY and brings together feature films and shorts from around the world. Screenings are paired with talks, workshops and community events that explore the theme from every angle.

HoFF celebrates world cinema and human interest films that center diverse, often underrepresented voices and lived experiences. Rooted in a strong social and cultural mission, the festival creates space for connection and storytelling across themes such as identity, inequality, migration, and representation.

Short film programme:
The Art of Being You, followed by a panel

Pakka (Iniyavan Elumalai, 2025, 18’)

Four gay Indian friends living in the Netherlands find a sense of belonging through their shared love of cricket. But when one of them agrees to an arranged marriage in India, the chosen family they've built together begins to unravel.

Bebe (Zezão Furlan and Augusto Gulum, 2026, 20’)

When his partner dies unexpectedly, a deaf immigrant father is left to raise their four-month-old daughter alone. Struggling with grief in a world that doesn't speak his language, he must find a way to care for his baby while coming to terms with his loss.

Lotusland (Avery Stedman, 2026, 10’)

Beyond Toronto's crowded streets and soaring living costs, ‘Lotusland’ discovers the people who give the city its character. An intimate documentary about the everyday lives and overlooked stories that make a city what it is.

Heaven Will Wait (Silver Tjepkema, 2025, 17’)

A group of young women navigate desire, vulnerability and the pressure of being watched. Confident in their sexuality yet conscious of how others see them, they confront a troubling question: how free are you when the gaze of others shapes the way you see yourself?

Inherited Silence (Mariam Khatchvani, 2025, 15’)

When a woman in a small Georgian village decides to leave her abusive husband, she faces fierce opposition from the women around her, who would rather maintain the façade of a happy family than confront the violence behind closed doors.
