Minorie presents: The fringes of folk and experimental music; Katya Shirshkova + Tomáš Niesner + Koude
Line up: Katya Shirshkova, Tomáš Niesner, Koude
Tickets: € €10 (presale) | €12 (door)
Born in Siberia and based in France, Katya Shirshkova creates hypnotic polyphonic music using only her voice and a looper. For this show she performs Le Héron, a four-part vocal piece inspired by birds and old storytelling archetypes. Layers of her voice gradually build into anhauntingly beautiful one-person choir.
Czech guitarist and sound artist Tomáš Niesner has made a name for himself in folk and fingerpicking guitar circles. His latest album 'adventus mmxxv' takes the calming, somewhat majestic atmospheres of Eastern European medieval hymns and turns them into minimalist guitar compositions with subtle layers of electronics.
Koude is a Dutch trio of Michiel Klein, Keimpe Koldijk and Ester Venema. Their subdued sound draws from meandering folk, ambient, slowcore and drone. The trio works with electric guitars, bass guitar, synthesizers, sparse percussion and occasional voice.
