pause.dxa

pause.dxa is an experimental music and sound project duo by Sahitya and Harsh based in Auroville, India. Our work brings together our individual practices of Dhrupad, a form of Indian Classical Music and Electronic sound synthesis. As our moniker suggests, we spend time in creating long form ambient listening experiences, which are a combination of structured and improvised music. We lean towards steady, subtle sounds and envision creating a sense of slowing down while listening to our music.

Sahitya practices Dhrupad (a form of Indian Classical Music) and is a disciple of Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar in the Dagarvani Tradition. Her practice is grounded in the philosophy of Dagar Gharana with a focus on Alaap — vocal improvisation and the subtlety of vocal sound. Harsh creates electronic soundscapes with modular synthesis techniques on VCV Rack and field recordings. He is also researching and actively creating installations based on cymatics. As a duo, one of their projects is focused on audio visual performances with live cymatics visuals and music.

pause.dxa has performed and shared sound across India and internationally over the last 3 years. Some of their notable performances include Ozora Festival (Hungary), Sanctum of Sound Series MaHalla (Berlin), Magnetic Fields Festival and Nomads, GAIA Festival, Serendipity Arts Festival, G5A Warehouse, Oddbird theatre and more.

Other significant projects include creating a four-part sleep audio series for Jnana, an online platform offering Eastern Philosophy classes and Yoga ; sound design for a solo theatre production ‘Garam Roti’; background score for an independent film ; Cymatics installations for a Sound Garden, Science Gallery; curating a listening focused venue opening soon in India.

Eyeless in Damascus

Eyeless in Damascus is the audiovisual project of Syrian artist, DJ and musician Adnan Samman. The project's approach mainly emphasizes live improvisation, merging field recordings and samples with electronics and synthesizers, creating soundscapes that are sometimes comforting, sometimes unsettling, but always curious and exploratory. After a decade of being an exclusive, intimate live experience for close friends in a living room, Eyeless in Damascus recently went public for the first time with performances at Utrecht's ACU and Rotterdam's WORM.

Collettivo Tack!

Anastasia Kapra (dancer) is a Greek born interdisciplinary artist and facilitator working with space and movement. Her practice, rooted in architecture, reveals space through a performative, participatory lens, where the experience of the spectator is centered at its core. She views improvisation as a relational field between performers, spectators and space alike.
Emily Sturm (dancer) is an interdisciplinary artist working across performance, sound, image, and movement. Fascinated by the relationship formed with our bodies through moving, she explores how movement allows us to encounter ourselves anew each time we begin to move.
Baptiste Martin de Frémont is a French musician guided by gesture and movement; he built his own electronic instrument, Symbios. Through a process of hybridization shaped by chance encounters—video, painting, theater, and large ensembles—meaning loses its footing amid these electric waves.
Dario Nitti is a drummer and a percussionist with a pronounced engagement in interdisciplinary artistic practice, whose work extends beyond the drum kit into collaborative performance contexts, including active participation alongside contemporary dancers.Carla Genchi is a vocalist whose artistic practice extends into the realm of objet trouvé performance, incorporating found-object sonorities as an integral component of her interpretive and experimental musical language.
