In The Mouth of the Room

In The Mouth of the Room is a 70-minute interdisciplinary performance evening inspired by A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf. 

Through poetry, music, movement, and live art, four artists: Eden Roding, Soraya Reichl, Stiene Ann, and NØËL transform the Plein Theater stage into a living site of encounter. Songs, movements, texts, sounds and silences echo and mutate. Boundaries between individual contributions remain permeable, creating a composition that is continuously rewritten through proximity and exchange! 

The evening also pays tribute to the life and legacy of queer writer Lieke Marsman through readings by Sunni Lamin Barrow and Berith Danse, artistic director of Plein Theater.

In The Mouth of the Room, audiences are invited into a shared landscape of listening and exchange, where nothing fully begins or ends, but instead circulates.

Eden Roding

Performer, dancer, spoken word artist, sculptor, painter and music maker, she creates multidisciplinary performances exploring the relationship between body, object and space. Inspired by philosophy, human behaviour and personal experiences, her work opens conversations around vulnerability, connection and societal themes. Drawing on dance, spoken word and visual art, she invites audiences into an honest, immersive experience where performance and installation come together.

Soraya Reichl

Soraya Reichl is a theatre maker, performer, curator, educator and political organiser based in Amsterdam and Berlin. Rooted in collective spaces of care, concern and pleasure, her work tells stories that resist erasure and embraces imagination as a political force. Working across performances, public interventions, audio walks, installations and workshops, she creates spaces where people can connect, question and wrestle with the world together.

Stiene Ann

Stiene Ann creates performances where movement, spoken word, and human encounter converge. Drawing from her experience as a dance teacher, performer, expression coach, and Energy Systema facilitator, she explores the power of authentic expression and the courage to reveal oneself. Her work moves between playfulness and depth, strength and vulnerability. Through interactive performances, she invites audiences to move beyond observation and become part of a shared experience.

NØËL

NØËL is an artist born and raised on the beautiful island of Curaçao. NØËL is a singer, writer, actor, creative director, photographer and entrepreneur amongst other skills he possesses. NØËL is currently studying at Amsterdam University of the Arts as Theatre Director. His love for art and his curiosity towards his creativity began around the age of four. Since then, NØËL has been working on becoming an artist. In 2017, at the age of 18, NØËL published his first book, a beautiful poetry book titled Algu pa mi tera and since, he became a multidisciplinary artist focusing on diverse forms of art.

July 2026: WorldPride Month at Plein Theater

Plein Theater celebrates queerness with a bold and motley programme full of theatre, film, drag, and performance !

Throughout the year, but especially during the month of July, Plein Theater gives unfiltered visibility to film and emerging artists engaging with queer themes. This year in the spirit of the extraordinary WorldPride Amsterdam, which theme UNITY stands for solidarity, connection, and a shared fight for equality.

An important part of the programme originates from an open call as part of our co-creation programme, where shared ownership and participation are key. Ten emerging and talented artists present work that engages with queer perspectives, identity, the body, freedom, and the many ways in which we can celebrate ourselves and each other.

We believe that a theater is not only a stage, but also a meeting center where artists, local residents, communities, and audiences collectively shape what is presented. Our co-creation programme can be recognised by the #GetInvolved label.

From 15th to 19th of July we screen ten queer films by the feminist film collective Cinemien! For decades, Cinemien has been a pioneer in showcasing powerful women’s stories, LGBTQIA+ perspectives, and groundbreaking documentaries.

We also Bring Drag Back to the Theatre with a special WorldPride edition featuring the irresistible drag queen Sederginne. And last but not least, together with queer.red and Lesbique, we explore the boundaries of queer erotique during Darkroom on Stage!
