Goblin Band
Goblin Band are a four-piece English traditional folk band based in London. The band formed in the wake of the pandemic from small sessions organised by young, queer, folk obsessive friends looking to forge their own way into traditional music. This gave rise to a band of multi-instrumentalists firmly rooted in the music of England, concerned with representing a perspective that confronts the nation’s social and political history of class struggle, industrialisation and colonialism. Through a fusion of harmony singing, fiddle, squeezeboxes, hurdy gurdy and more, Goblin Band deliver a charismatic and unruly alternative expression of English traditional music both riotously joyful and deeply sincere.
The Silver Field
The Silver Field is a sound world of Coral Rose Kindred-Boothby. Voice, tapes, bass, samples, synthesis, strings, reeds, drums, small sounds, big sounds, sunlight, moonlight, a lot of water. Using her modular synthesiser and other self-built electronic instruments, she weaves together song-soundscapes, creating a rich and dream-like tapestry of sound that draws from folk music tradition, experimental electronics and psychedelia.
Her LPs ‘Rooms’ and ‘Sing High! Sing Low’, and split EP with Betwixt & Between Tapes received press in The Guardian, Mojo and The Quietus among others, and have had radio play and guest playlists on BBC 6Music and NTS.
On Sing High! Sing Low! you can actually hear that slow and organic growth, its layers that reveal themselves all at once, creating a psychedelic drift through time and space. It’s a record of juxtapositions, between sung and spoken vocals, acoustic and electric instrumentation. Its images and environments feel evocative and real, but also imbued with a universal sense of essence. It flitters between sounding dreamlike and sounding like the first hazy moments of waking. – the Quietus
