Het weinig succesvolle cabaretduo Het Verdriet van Drenthe is uit elkaar. Tim en Albert gaan elk huns weegs – of nou ja, Tim sterft plotseling. En nu gaat Albert noodgedwongen solo.

Albert Meijer (winnaar jury- en publieksprijs Amsterdams Studenten Cabaret Festival 2024) maakt met Tim in een tasje een ode aan eigenzinnig rouwen. Hij maakt liedjes en verhalen over de dood, rouw, verlies en de vreemde maar constante drang om daar grapjes over te maken. Wat moet je doen als je beste vriend ineens doodgaat? Hoe ziet een queer uitvaart er uit? En hoe kies je in hemelsnaam een mooie grafkist uit?

De Theaterkrant noemde Albert “tegelijkertijd ontwapenend grappig en immens treurig”. Zijn debuutvoorstelling Tim in een tasje schuurt en raakt, en werkt net zo hard op je lachspieren als op je traanbuizen.

July 2026: WorldPride Month at Plein Theater

Plein Theater celebrates queerness with a bold and motley programme full of theatre, film, drag, and performance !

Throughout the year, but especially during the month of July, Plein Theater gives unfiltered visibility to film and emerging artists engaging with queer themes. This year in the spirit of the extraordinary WorldPride Amsterdam, which theme UNITY stands for solidarity, connection, and a shared fight for equality.

An important part of the programme originates from an open call as part of our co-creation programme, where shared ownership and participation are key. Ten emerging and talented artists present work that engages with queer perspectives, identity, the body, freedom, and the many ways in which we can celebrate ourselves and each other.

We believe that a theater is not only a stage, but also a meeting center where artists, local residents, communities, and audiences collectively shape what is presented. Our co-creation programme can be recognised by the #GetInvolved label.

From 15th to 19th of July we screen ten queer films by the feminist film collective Cinemien! For decades, Cinemien has been a pioneer in showcasing powerful women’s stories, LGBTQIA+ perspectives, and groundbreaking documentaries.

We also Bring Drag Back to the Theatre with a special WorldPride edition featuring the irresistible drag queen Sederginne. And last but not least, together with queer.red and Lesbique, we explore the boundaries of queer erotique during Darkroom on Stage!
