Line up: Collective and celebratory boat launch on the Sloterplas

On May 31st, at 2pm, Le Bateau invites you to gather at Buurtwerkplaats Noorderhof for a collective and celebratory boat launch on the Sloterplas.

Since March 2026, an open participatory worksite has been unfolding at Buurtwerkplaats Noorderhof. Volunteers, neighbors, artists, and collaborators have been building an artistic boat, partly from reclaimed materials, through cutting, sanding, painting, and assembling. The process is shaped by shared labor, knowledge exchange, and time spent together, where forms gradually emerge through many hands.

The boat is part of Monstrous Voices, a project by Le Bateau, the artist duo of Laëtitia Delauney and Aurélia Noudelmann. Their practice focuses on reshaping maritime imaginaries, primarily through the design of hybrid boats as sites for the emergence of floating narratives, knowledge sharing, and imagination. They explore forms of poetic parasitism and the displacement of dominant narrative frameworks. Their floating sculptures become tools for visual, political, and fictional research. They prioritize feminist and queer initiatives during participatory projects.
