Open Mic Night – Forró, Samba, Bossa Nova & more

Every last Friday of the month, we gather at NieuwLand for an open mic evening.

This is a space for anyone who would like to share something — music, songs, poetry — or simply come to listen, meet others, and spend the evening together. You don’t need to be a professional or part of a band. Curiosity and openness are enough.

A small core group plays Brazilian genres such as Forró, Choro, Samba and Bossa Nova, and they usually help open the session. From there, the evening unfolds organically. Other styles and contributions are very welcome — the idea is to create a relaxed and supportive atmosphere where different sounds can meet.

Doors open at 18:00.
There will be a vegan, donation-based dinner prepared by volunteers, so you’re welcome to come early, eat together and ease into the night.

Whether you come to perform or just to be present, you’re welcome.

NieuwLand is wheelchair accessible but our toilets are not!! (we are working on it). The nearest public spaces with wheelchair accessible toilets are Tropen Museum (open Tuesday-Saturday 10-17H) and hotel The Manor (open 24/7).
