B.base is a pilot program by 4bidgallery. It is based on the body, and how this is a source for work through different mediums of Art.

The evenings of exhibition, performances, a screening and a panel discussion around the theme of the body.

The aim of B.base is to explore the (moving) body by questioning how artists, working with different mediums, represent it, use it as a tool, admire it or make it the subject of their work to express their concepts.

Laury Hooghuis

'Under Reconstruction' is an 8-minute film piece by filmmaker Laury Hooghuis, based in Amsterdam. This film was featured in de Volkskrant last February, where it was described as: “Under Reconstruction has an ambiguous tension, both through the uncanny sounds […] and through the sure-handed direction and rhythmic editing. The film showcases a carefully constructed choreography of glances, movements and footsteps that follow each other in such a way that the viewer’s imagination naturally weaves an associative story (Janna Reinsma, de Volkskrant, Amsterdam)''. This short film gives a deep emotional experience, set in a building that is slowly being demolished. We follow three characters in their search for each other – or rather, for themselves. The film has an intriguing, atmospheric narrative, in which the experience of the characters is central. It is a cinematic unsettled world in which Hooghuis stimulates the imagination of the viewer and encourages them to consciously experience their own subconscious.

'I Liver You' Between metaphor and reality, this performance explores the imag- ery of the liver in moroccan culture, organ remplacing the heart has the symbol of love. In a transgressive action towards myself, I inger- ate 1 Kilo of liver, hoping that on top of the protein impact, it will also increase my opportunities with romantic chances. It is a place of balance between self-harm and self-love

'Wildborn' is a visual metamorphosis that immerses the viewer in an animistic world to reposition the human on an evolutionary path – a path of rebirth and the physical awakening of the wild spirit.
