For this edition of Live at Our Place, we bring together Kristina Kovalyova and Jules!

Kristina Kovalyova will delight the audience by presenting her new project “Hristya v Namysti”, an album about nostalgia and profound moments of change. Its music is woven from memories, Ukranian folks songs, lullabies, and fairy tales told to her by her grandparents. For the second act, Jules will delight us with exquisite songwriting and beautiful piano melodies.

ABOUT KRISTINA KOVALYOVA

Kristina Kovaleva is a Ukrainian-Russian singer and composer based in Amsterdam. Growing up in Lugansk (Ukraine), she started singing and playing the piano at a young age and absorbed all the music she encountered. After studying at the Moscow Academy of Music, she moved to St. Petersburg. At that time, due to home sickness, she developed a passion for Ukrainian folk music and started making compositions by combining jazz with Ukrainian folklore. In 2019, she released her debut album, Hristya v Namysti. In 2020, she moved to Amsterdam to pursue a Master's Degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. Here, she met renowned musicians and played with pianists like Harmen Fraanje and Mike del Ferro. With her new project Kristina, participated in Jazzfest, VPRO Vrije Geluiden, Keep An Eye Jazz Award, and the Rough Diamonds Series at the Bimhuis.

ABOUT JULES

Jules (Julia Rosenhart)discovered her love for music in her teenage years, and started composing instrumental pieces before adding lyrics to create her unique style. Encouraged by winning the first prize at the HIT, she pursued a Masters’ Degree in Kleinkunst at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. There, she honed her singer-songwriter skills and developed her distinctive sound. After graduating, Jules returned to The Netherlands and performed at venues like OPEK in Leuven, CORSO in Antwerp and CC de Steiger in Menen. She experiments with piano, vocals and synthesiser. Jules constantly pushes artistic boundaries, exploring new sounds and experiences in her music and performances.
