Line up: Zornitsa Stoyanova
This workshop is open to all interested in movement and language improvisation and instant composition - from seasoned dancers to regular people.
Brutal Honesty is a dance and language improvisation practice developed by award-winning choreographer Zornitsa Stoyanova.
Working from our senses and noticing all that we are including our voice, Zornitsa will lead the group toward trusting our instincts, recognizing patterns and ultimately moving with curiosity, pleasure, and desire. We will move throughout the whole time as well as working in smaller groups and witnessing each other.
Brutal Honesty was developed in conversation with the work of Deborah Hay and Jeanine Durning and brings further the notion of the here-and-now moment, and how to engage with it through movement and language. During the class, we will explore non-stop talking and dancing as well as “emergent poetics” and “emergent metaphor”.
Ultimately, working towards integrating all that we are and noticing our ability to compose and make choices in the here and now.
