Lucid Recordings
The Lucid label grew out of DJ Steve Green’s Lucid Interval night at the legendary Mazzo in Amsterdam in the mid-90s. It was a boundary-pushing place with an open-minded dancefloor pumping to breakbeats, techno, abstract electronica and dub. The music we released stood the test of time and renewed interest helped bring the label back to life in 2019. Many of the original artists are now back on board, and we’re releasing lots of new, remixed, live and archive tracks on vinyl and digital.

Rhythmism: club and compilation
Rhythmism is the new club and compilation series from Lucid Recordings.
Live analogue sets are the centrepiece of rhythmism events. This first event also celebrates the latest Lucid release: rhythmism – a Lucid compilation featuring the artists performing tonight. It’s all about rich, deep, quality techno, breakbeats, electronica and electro performed live by artists from the label, plus friends, kindred spirits and other like-minded folk.

Hear it here first: rhythmism compilation out now exclusively on Bandcamp [Spotify/Apple release date: Saturday 23 March]

Live line-up

Live: x(eptional

The two Wouters (Snoei and Kalkhoven) go way back. They were best friends at primary school then later founded x(eptional together in 1995.
This award-winning duo soon moved on from trance techno to their totally distinctive and wildly addictive breakbeat-based sound – sometimes with a slightly jazzy feel – that’s still driving them forward today. Expect two compact sets of epic, ever evolving, shifting universes of breakbeats, melodies, jabs and swells.

Live: Allert
Allert is producer Allert Aalders, formerly of the legendary Utrecht-based techno duo Human Beings, plus many solo projects on the modular scene and elsewhere.
Allert’s live sets will explore his present and his past. Set one will be packed with his latest uplifting and reflective technoid grooves, and for set two he’ll be drawing from his mighty magic archive of Human Beings cinematic ambient techno.

Live: Sjuul [Morphid]
Tonight Sjuul will be treating you to two short live sets of his Detroit-infused electro-tech, with a uniquely lowlands feel.
His sound was first inspired by FSOL’s Accelerator blasting from his Walkman as he biked home from 90s raves, passing the post-war industrial monoliths looming over the flat, moonlit landscape of North Holland. Sjuul is the solo project of producer Jacco Rens, who is also half of Lucid Recordings label-mate Morphid, together with Jan Schermer / DJ Jan:us.

Live: Zero.dB
Made in France, forged in Spain, finalised in the Netherlands.
Zero.dB is producer Nick Berjoan.
Driving, but delicate and intricate dancefloor electro, breakbeat, electronica and full-on techno – full of funk, full of rhythm. Moody, trancey, warm. Always drawing on that Detroit thing: that feeling of a groove infused with nostalgia, filled with hopeful realism.
Zero.dB is an optimist after all.

Live: David Caron
David Caron’s back catalogue spans the legendary labels Eevolute, Mo Wax and Music for Speakers. He also played live multiple times at Steve Greens original Lucid nights , including with his excellently named band Relaxo Abstracto.David’s instantly recognisable delicate but driving funk comes with a dose of tech-funk and a jazz twist – sparse and light-footed grooves that pull you in every time.

DJ line-up

DJ Jan:us [Morphid]

Expect a heady and eclectic full-on dancefloor mix of angular techno and electro with the accent of the offbeat and the uncanny vibe.
Jan:us is producer Jan Schermer, half of Lucid stalwarts Morphid who produced rare classics like Mephisto and First Visit [refreshed version of that track appears on the new rhythmism compilation]
Bandcamp

DJ Streamer
Mad wicked Bass/Glitch/Rave rhythms for dancefloor craziness.
DJ Streamer produces under lots of different names: for Lucid Recordings as Vitamen, and for Quaint, KidNap and more.
Bandcamp

DJ Steve Green (Lucid)
Blending adventurous electric music for the maximum mood and funk, mixing it up with breakbeat, electro and abstract techno on a dub tip.
Steve heads Lucid Recordings and hosted the original Lucid Interval club at the legendary Mazzo.
